U.S. President Donald Trump's administration officially announced that it's opting not to extend its trade agreement with Canada and Mexico, triggering what are expected to be tough negotiations on amending the deal.

Officials from the US, Mexico, and Canada will meet on Wednesday to review the trade agreement after Trump said he does not want to extend.

The White House hopes that annual reviews will curb the United States’ trade deficit with Mexico and Canada.

Donald Trump is trampling over agreements with the U.S.’s closest neighbors and allies.

Trump previously said that he was leaning against renewing the deal in order to continue separate trade talks with both Canada and Mexico.
