Shortly after the first high-level US-Iran negotiations ended, discrepancies emerged over what the two sides actually agreed, as Tehran moved to directly contradict US Vice President JD Vance’s statements.

US Vice President JD Vance has said he hoped to "make progress on the nuclear issue, make progress on the Lebanon ceasefire issue" ahead of talks with Iranian negotiators.

Talks come as Iran says it is closing the Strait of Hormuz over Israel's deadly attacks on Lebanon.
