The ongoing protests by teachers in Oyo State over the abduction of pupils and teachers and the killing of an educator during recent attacks on schools have received backing from the Socialist Workers League (SWL) and the Centre Against Injustice and Domestic Violence (CAIDOV). The groups, in separate statements on Wednesday, described the growing insecurity across Nigeria as unacceptable and called for the immediate rescue of all kidnapped pupils and teachers.

The union said the protest became necessary following the continued captivity of seven teachers and several pupils kidnapped during recent attacks on schools in the state.
