Fuel costs have jumped since June.
Diesel is nearing €2 a litre in Slovakia, putting prices back at levels not seen since the 2022 energy crisis.
An OMV filling station on the D4 highway near Rovinka, outside Bratislava, was selling diesel for €1.99 a litre, Hospodárske noviny reported on 8 September. Slovnaft stations were generally charging about €1.94, while petrol was close to or above €1.80 at some stations.
Average diesel prices stood at about €1.49 at the end of June, according to Hospodárske noviny. A 45-cent increase adds €22.50 to the cost of filling a 50-litre tank.
J&T Bank analyst Stanislav Pánis told the newspaper that the market made a rise above €2 increasingly likely.
