Fuel prices in Bulgaria are continuing to rise, with traders warning that diesel could soon permanently exceed €1.80 per liter, while gasoline supplies are already running low at some wholesale bases.
According to traders quoted by NOVA TV, diesel is currently selling for €1.77 per liter at a small gas station in Veliko Tarnovo. They expect another increase if there is no significant change in the tensions between the United States and Iran.
Nikolay Nikolov of the Association of Small Fuel Traders said the wholesale price is currently €1,675 per 1,000 liters. If that price remains unchanged over the next two days, retail fuel prices are expected to rise again.
"If there are no serious changes in relations between the US and Iran, diesel will soon be over €1.80 per liter," Nikolov said.
He also warned that supply problems are already emerging, particularly for gasoline. "The worst thing is that fuel is already starting to run out at the sites. There is no more gasoline at bases in Ruse," he said.
