Weather conditions are set to change across parts of the country, with the current heat and sunshine expected to give way to rain, thunderstorms, and a drop in temperatures.
According to meteorological forecasts, rain and thunderstorms are expected to first develop in northern and northwestern Greece from Saturday afternoon. From Sunday into Monday, the weather systems are forecast to spread to the Ionian islands and several parts of mainland Greece, with storms potentially becoming quite intense in some areas.
The change in weather is expected to bring temperatures back closer to seasonal averages. Thereafter, forecasts indicate that temperatures are not expected to see any significant rise over the coming week.
