The counterintelligence officers of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) arrested and served a notice of suspicion to a 19-year-old resident of Mykolaiv who, on orders from Russian intelligence services, was preparing to assassinate a prominent public figure in the Kyiv region.
As reported by Ukrinform, the SSU said this.
The special operation was carried out under the personal coordination of SSU Head Major General Oleksandr Poklad.
The investigation established that the suspect planned to shoot the activist during his morning walk with his dog in a forest.
To do so, the agent had been tracking the potential victim’s daily schedule and movements for an extended period. He also received coordinates from the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) to a cache, where he retrieved a pistol with ammunition and a suppressor.
