The government plans to begin testing a system of direct cash transfers for social aid in the first half of 2027 as it seeks to improve the targeting of its welfare program.The National Economic Council (DEN) head Luhut Pandjaitan said the government is currently in the process of cleaning and matching beneficiary data, expected to be completed by the end of the year before trials begin between the first and second quarters of 2027.
“We plan to finish all of this by the end of this year. At the beginning of next year […] we will conduct trials,” Luhut said, as quoted by state news agency Antara.
