Connor Esterhuizen believes the Proteas narrow victory over Namibia has provided valuable momentum ahead of Sunday’s T20I Tri-series final against Zimbabwe, while also highlighting the importance of adapting to different roles.
Esterhuizen was instrumental in Friday’s 11-run victory at the Namibia Cricket Ground, smashing 88 off just 40 balls in a record-breaking 156-run opening partnership with Lhuan-dre Pretorius.
The 22-year-old was promoted to open the innings and made the most of the opportunity, but he insists he is comfortable batting anywhere in the order.
“I don’t know if I feel a bit more comfortable opening,” Esterhuizen said after the match. “I’ve done it quite a bit. I think I’ve batted almost everywhere from one to seven in my T20 career.
