The end of the week found the Athinon Avenue benchmark topping the 2,700-point mark for a new 19-year high, as the small push on Friday, mainly by banks, sufficed for the main index to continue its ascent for a seventh straight week. Stocks generally showed a mixed picture, with the turnover easing, on the day before the financial policy announcements by the Prime Minister at the Thessaloniki International Fair.
The Euronext Athens (ATHEX) general index closed at 2,701.38 points, adding 0.37% to Thursday’s 2,691.43 points. On a weekly basis it advanced 0.80%.
The large-cap FTSE-25 index expanded 0.35% to end at 6,914.78 points, though mid-caps slid 0.07%.
The banks index grew 0.76%, as Piraeus earned 1.44%, Bank of Cyprus improved 1.25%, Eurobank obtained 1.20% and National grabbed 1.01%, while Alpha parted with 1.22%.
In total, 48 stocks registered gains, another 48 suffered losses and 26 remained unchanged.
