Confirmation of the upgrading of the Greek bourse by STOXX this September to the “developed” level, and the upcoming second-quarter results of banks assisted the rebound of local stocks that the drop in global oil rates generated on Friday. Yet just as the benchmark reached 2,499 points, it pulled back, perhaps not being yet ready to reclaim the level it had conquered earlier in the week.
The Euronext Athens (ATHEX) general index closed at 2,492.71 points, adding 1.49% to Thursday’s 2,456.16 points. On a weekly basis it advanced 1.86%.
The large-cap FTSE-25 index expanded 1.50% to end at 6,340.58 points and the banks index outperformed, climbing 2.25%. National grew 3.26%, CrediaBank obtained 3.08%, Eurobank grabbed 2.61%, Bank of Cyprus secured 2.16%, Piraeus and Optima collected 2%, while Alpha only edged up 0.05%.
OTE telecom rose 2.61% and ElvalHalcor augmented 2.49%.
In total, 67 stocks registered gains, 34 suffered losses and 22 remained unchanged.
