Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man on Wesbank Main Road.
Residents of Wesbank say they are living in fear after a 28-year-old man was shot dead on Wesbank Main Road, amid claims that he had witnessed an earlier mass shooting.
The man was shot in the head shortly before 8pm on Wednesday. A Community Police Forum member, who asked not to be named, said tensions had risen in the area following the release of parolees. Police are investigating the killing.
It is understood that the man was a witness in a shooting on 15 August, 2026, in Wesbank Main Road, in which a 37-year-old man was shot dead and three others, aged 43, 50 and 60, were wounded.
“He was allegedly a witness in a shooting incident and was involved in gangsterism but I cannot confirm that information. Wesbank was quiet for a while until some of the parolees were released from prison without the community’s knowledge," said the CPF member.
