Police at Athens airport have arrested a man suspected of trying to smuggle thousands of packs of contraband cigarettes into Greece from Egypt.
A police statement Thursday said the 22-year-old suspect was taken into custody following a tip-off after getting off a flight from Cairo.
It said he was carrying just over 7,000 packs of cigarettes and three kilograms of tobacco in his luggage, none of which had been declared or taxed.
Several people flying in from Egypt have been arrested in recent months for cigarette-smuggling.
