Three minors living in the house of a couple who are facing murder charges over the death of an infant have allegedly not been able to shed much light in the gruesome case.
The two boys, aged 9 and 12, and the 15-year-old girl, were transferred on Thursday from a hospital were they remain following a prosecutor’s order to the Independent Office for the Protection of Minor Victims, also known as the Children’s House, a special service that provides protection and support to children victims of violence, where they testified in the presence of child psychologists.
From their accounts, it seems they knew only two things: that the baby was dead and that his body had been placed in the freezer. However, according to the same information, they were unaware that his death was due to a criminal act. Investigators have not yet determined the children’s whereabouts at the time of the crime.
A separate inquiry is underway to determine their health and their relation to the arrested couple. Hospital tests showed that they have a sexually transmitted disease, but the forensic examination did not reveal injuries related to sexual abuse.
