Prosecutors in Thessaloniki filed felony robbery and illegal weapons charges Monday against a 38-year-old man accused of opening fire inside a convenience store on Kassandrou Street.
Authorities said the incident began Sunday afternoon when the suspect seized a bottle of alcohol, threatening violence. A customer intervened, recovered the item, and returned it to the owner. The suspect left but returned shortly after carrying a sawed-off shotgun under his jacket. Seeking the customer, he fired two shots into the ceiling. No injuries were reported, and police arrested him nearby.
The suspect denied forcible theft, claiming he acted because he “felt insulted” by the earlier dispute, citing alcoholism.
