Greece will face a reduced summer wildfire risk Tuesday, with the Greater Athens region and most of the Aegean Sea islands facing the worst threat, authorities said.
No major blazes had been reported by early afternoon Monday.
According to the civil protection service, Attica, the island of Evia and other adjoining parts of eastern central Greece, the northern and southeastern Peloponnese, Crete, the Cyclades, the Dodecanese and the islands of Chios, Samos, Ikaria and Lesvos will face a category-3 risk of wildfire.
The rest of the country, including the western Ionian Sea islands, will be on category 2 of the 5-notch wildfire risk scale.
