There was a significant increase in the speed of internet connections in 2025, data from Greece’s National Telecommunications & Post Commission show.
The average download speed reached 163.82 megabits per second (Mbps), 47.66% faster than in 2024, when it was 110.94 Mbps. The median download speed, however, increased 30.28%, from 70.42 Mbps to 91.74 Mbps, reflecting the gap between those who use fiber-to-the-home connections and everybody else.
Uploads improved even more: the average upload speed more than tripled in a year, from 25.18 Mbps to 80.38 Mbps in 2025, a gain of 219.21%. The median upload speed rose 44.28%, from 9.62 Mbps to 13.88 Mbps.
Heavier use of fiber optic connections and improvements in providers’ network speeds contributed to the increase.
