The overall rise of smartphone data consumption worldwide is also holding up in Greece. While five years ago Greek consumers paid dearly for each gigabyte, the gradual price reduction, combined with more competitive offers from telecommunications providers, has significantly changed usage habits. Subscribers are now able to surf the Internet more easily and more from their mobile phones, as reflected in the Tefficient report, which processed data from 40 countries worldwide.
According to the analysis, the average mobile data consumption per subscription in Greece was approximately 15.2 GB per month in 2025, a level that places it in the middle of the European ranking of the 40 markets examined.
Within a year, it recorded an increase of 22%, as the corresponding average monthly consumption in 2024 in Greece had reached 12.5 GB per subscription.
At international level, the champion in mobile data consumption is Latvia, where the average usage reached 56.5 GB per subscription per month in 2025, recording a new world high. This is followed by Saudi Arabia with 48.5 GB (based, however, on 2024 data) and Finland with 47.4 GB. The top six are completed by Estonia, Taiwan and Lithuania. This means that the usage in Greece corresponds to approximately 27% of the usage observed in Latvia and almost a third of the corresponding consumption in Finland.
