The traditional kingdom of Tooro in western Uganda is in deep grief following the sudden death of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV. The king, who once made history as the youngest reigning monarch in the world, passed away on Thursday night at the age of 34.

The king’s passing occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. local time on Thursday.
Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, the prime minister of Tooro, announced the news online, sharing, "It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of His Majesty the Omukama of Tooro, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV".
While the exact cause of his death has not been disclosed, a government minister, Balaam Barugahara, mentioned shortly before the official announcement that the monarch had been receiving medical care in the United States.
