Aug. 28 (UPI) -- The king of Tooro, an enclave in western Uganda, died Thursday at 34 after an illness.
King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV ascended the throne in 1995 at age 3 after the sudden death of his father, King Olimi III. He was the youngest reigning monarch in the world.
Tooro Prime Minister Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki announced the king's death in a statement.
"This is an immeasurable loss to the Royal Family, the people of Tooro and the nation of Uganda," the prime minister said. "I call upon all the people of Tooro to remain united, calm and prayerful during this profoundly difficult time."
