Uganda’s King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, who became one of the world’s youngest monarchs after ascending the Tooro throne at the age of three, has died at 34.

The Tooro Kingdom announced his death on Thursday, August 27, 2026, saying the monarch died while receiving medical treatment in the United States.

However, the kingdom did not disclose the cause of death.

“It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of His Majesty the Omukama of Tooro, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV,” the prime minister of the kingdom, Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki, said in a post on X late on Thursday.
