Asieh Ramezani, a 39-year-old woman and mother of two, was killed by direct gunfire from Islamic Republic security forces during the crackdown on the January protests in Tehran.
According to information obtained by IranWire, agents shot Ramezani from close range from behind in the early morning hours of Friday, January 9. The bullet pierced her back and chest, penetrating her heart and taking her life.
Asieh Ramezani was the mother of a teenage daughter and a primary school-aged son. Her family states that following the shooting, she was transported to a medical clinic; however, she was left bleeding for approximately five hours without effective medical care.
After losing contact with her, Ramezani’s family searched for three days between the Kahrizak Forensics Center and Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery before finally locating her body.
When the family located her remains, her cheek was bruised, and blood was still visible beneath the body shroud. They reported that her body had been kept in a “painful and improper” condition.
