The Special Court for POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act Cases here has awarded life imprisonment unto death to an old man who sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl six years ago.According to prosecution, Chiththirai Selvan, 64, of Veeravanallur, sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl from a village under the jurisdiction of Veeravanallur police station in August 2020.After registering the case based on the complaint from the victim’s father, the Veeravanallur police transferred the case to Cheranmahadevi All Women Police on August 5, 2020.Judicial Magistrate of Special Court for POCSO Cases Suresh Kumar awarded life imprisonment unto death to Chiththirai Selvan on Thursday and slapped a fine of ₹10,000 on him.He also directed the Tamil Nadu Government to give the compensation of ₹3 lakh to the victim.
