New buildings have been constructed to house the Fire and Rescue Services stations at Samayapuram in Tiruchi district and Perambalur. The Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation has constructed the buildings for the two fire stations at a total cost exceeding ₹8 crore. The new two-storeyed Perambalur fire and rescue services station building has been constructed on a area measuring 11,366 square feet at a cost of ₹4.32 crore. The new station has four bays to accommodate emergency vehicle tender, water tender and water browser. The building has a meeting hall, store room to keep the equipment and material required for fire fighting operations and separate offices for the District Officer and the Assistant District Officer. The Perambalur Fire and Rescue Services station has a total number of 22 personnel, a department official said. The new building to house the Samayapuram fire station near Tiruchi has been constructed by the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation at a cost ₹3.91 crore. The station had been functioning in a rented building hitherto. The two-storeyed building constructed near the Samayapuram Arulmigu Mariamman temple has various facilities including a storeroom to keep the equipment.Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay inaugurated the two new buildings through video conference from Chennai on Thursday. A function was organised at both fire stations in connection with the inauguration. Perambalur Collector Sharanya Ari, Perambalur SP V. Lalith Kumar, District Officer, Fire and Rescue Services, Perambalur G.
