A new Fire and Rescue Services Station was inaugurated at Veppanthattai in Perambalur district on Monday.

Established at a cost of ₹2.33 crore, the fire station has 17 staff including one station officer, two senior firefighters, three engine operators/drivers, and 11 firefighters. A water tanker vehicle and essential firefighting and rescue equipment have also been provided.

The station will serve over 43 villages, covering the area from Esanai to Pillangulam. With this addition, the total number of fire and rescue stations in Perambalur district has increased from two to three.

The announcement for the new station was made in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in April, following a request from Perambalur MLA M. Prabhakaran.

Mr. Prabhakaran inaugurated the facility in the presence of Collector N. Mirunalini, Superintendent of Police Adarsh Pachera, Deputy Director of Fire and Rescue Services (Tiruchi Central Division) Murali, District Fire and Rescue Officer Anusuya, and other senior officials.
