Lithuania’s embassy in India has received information that a Lithuanian citizen may have been at a border crossing between Nepal and Tibet with a group of pilgrims when flash floods struck the area Wednesday.
“Contact with the citizen has not been established. No official information about a Lithuanian citizen has been received from Nepalese authorities,” Lithuania’s Foreign Ministry told BNS on Thursday.
The embassy is continuing to maintain contact with Lithuanians in Nepal and with an ashram in India, the ministry said.
Later on Thursday, the ministry confirmed that a Lithuanian woman was among the missing persons.
“Official information was recently received that a Lithuanian citizen is officially considered missing,” Ministry Chancellor Aistė Stakėnienė told reporters on Thursday.
