Prime Minister Rumen Radev said Bulgaria was returning to a normal political cycle after years of political instability and pledged that the 2027 state budget would be adopted on schedule and provide financial stability.
Speaking at the start of Thursday's government meeting, Radev called on lawmakers to prepare for intensive work as Parliament's new session gets underway. He said the government was awaiting the 2027 budget as well as a series of reforms included in the program of Progressive Bulgaria.
"The 2027 budget will be adopted on time. The new financial framework will be realistic and will guarantee stability," Radev said.
He said he expected the presidential elections in October to confirm what he described as a sustainable course toward political normalization following Progressive Bulgaria's entry into government.
Radev also addressed the government's efforts to strengthen the rule of law, saying that "there are no more untouchables." He pointed to an operation by state security services and the Interior Ministry at what he described as a mafia gathering place in the Dragalevtsi district of Sofia, saying it demonstrated that the process of enforcing the law was only beginning.
