Prime Minister Rumen Radev has outlined a government push to increase economic productivity and improve transparency in public spending, emphasizing both stronger fiscal discipline and higher value creation across the economy.
Speaking at the start of a cabinet meeting, Radev highlighted the rollout of the SIGMA system, describing it as a public control platform that allows citizens to track how state and municipal funds are spent. The system is expected to expand rapidly and introduce automated mechanisms for detecting inflated prices, related-party contracting, and preferential treatment in public procurement.

He said the initiative is aimed at curbing irregular practices in state tenders and reducing hidden internal transfers that place pressure on the national budget. According to him, the goal is to ensure that public funds are spent more transparently and efficiently across all levels of government.
Radev stressed that the platform marks a shift toward greater public oversight, adding that ministries and local authorities will face stricter digital monitoring as the system develops further. The SIGMA module has already been launched through the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Transformation, with additional upgrades planned.
