Western Cape Police are investigating a case or murder after an officer was killed in an alleged shootout during an early morning operation in Knysna.

Captain Zamani Mzayiya was deployed to Knysna as part of investigations into the murder of former mayor and ANC ward councillor Aubrey Tsengwa and two other men in separate shooting incidents last week.
The 50-year-old officer, who was attached to the provincial Tactical Response Team (TRT), was killed during an operation at the Sewende Laan informal settlement on Uniondale Road in the early hours of Wednesday.
A 38-year-old suspect was also killed during the shootout, while police recovered two firearms from his possession.
