Western Cape police are dealing with murder and culpable homicide cases after one of their own was shot and killed, while another was burnt to death inside a state vehicle

This was after an off-duty police officer stationed at Nyanga Police Station was shot and killed in Town Two in Khayelitsha on Sunday.

In a second incident, a police officer who was stationed at Bishop Lavis Police Station had burnt to death inside a state vehicle along the R300 Freeway between Stellenbosch Arterial and Van Riebeeck Road, Kuils River.

At the first scene, the officer identified as Sergeant Mohlomla, 46, had just dropped off his wife at church and had been waiting at his uncle’s residence in Hlomela Street, Town Two, Khayelitsha to fetch her afterwards when he was attacked by two gunmen on Sunday just before 3pm.
