Sabah FC's new defender Aden McCarthy has reacted to helping his team qualify for the UEFA Champions League phase at the first attempt.
Sabah beat Hapoel Beer Sheva 5-2 in the second leg of their play-off tie on Tuesday, securing a 6-4 aggregate victory. McCarthy and his teammates reached the final round of qualification after navigating three intense previous rounds.
They defeated The New Saints 4-1 on aggregate in the opening round, beat Kuopion Palloseura 3-0 on aggregate in the second, and then advanced past Aarhus Gymnastikforening 5-2 on aggregate earlier this month.
McCarthy could not have asked for a better start with the Azerbaijani side. He has slotted seamlessly into the team's structure, proving his worth following an impressive rise at Kaizer Chiefs over the years.
