The City of Cape Town has reaffirmed its commitment to animal health and community well-being by allocating R850,000 to fund the latest phase of the Mass Animal Sterilisation Project (MASP).
Operating in partnership with the Cape Animal Welfare Forum (CAWF) and spearheaded by the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, the long-running initiative will target Subcouncil 11 starting this September.
The campaign aims to sterilise 1,500 domestic dogs and cats across the suburbs of Manenberg, Hanover Park, Athlone, and Heideveld.
Since its launch in 2013, the MASP has successfully sterilised 19,376 animals across vulnerable communities—including Dunoon, Khayelitsha, Atlantis, and Tafelsig—backed by a total municipal investment of nearly R9 million.
