The campaign not only met its goal of providing 67 kennels but also surpassed its food donation target.
A collaborative effort led by FOUR PAWS South Africa and the Mdzananda Animal Clinic has successfully mobilised community support, delivering 67 "Kennels of Hope" and hundreds of care packages to dogs in Khayelitsha. The initiative, launched in the spirit of Nelson Mandela’s legacy of service, aimed to provide essential shelter and nutrition to pets living in under-resourced communities. The campaign significantly outperformed its initial targets, distributing over 670 food parcels to support local pet owners. The project relied on a broad coalition of contributors, including pupils from Micklefield Primary School, who worked alongside FOUR PAWS staff and Ambassador Carishma Basday to pack the care packages.
The kennels were designed to offer critical protection from harsh weather, addressing a vital need for local animal welfare. Fiona Miles, Director at FOUR PAWS South Africa, said the broader impact of the campaign. "This campaign is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when compassion turns into action," Miles said. "Together with our supporters and partners, we have not only reached our goal but gone beyond it, delivering meaningful support for dogs who need it most."
