A heat wave continued to grip Greece on Tuesday, with temperatures nearing 40 degrees Celsius for a fourth consecutive day, sending residents in major cities in search of relief in shaded areas, air-conditioned spaces, parks and beaches.
Western Peloponnese remained at the center of the heat wave, with temperatures reaching 40 degrees. In Patra, high humidity pushed up the heat index, increasing discomfort.
Temperatures in central Larissa were forecast to reach 39 degrees, while traffic remained light as residents sought cooler, greener areas. Similar conditions prevailed in Piraeus.
Forecasters expect the heat to persist, with officials warning vulnerable groups to take precautions against heat-related illness.
