The retrial application of Amir Rahimi, a teacher residing in Azna who was arrested during the January 2026 protests, has been rejected by Branch 41 of the Supreme Court. He had previously been sentenced to four years in prison.
The Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations channel reported that the teacher’s retrial request, registered with Branch 41 of the Supreme Court, was formally rejected on August 15.
According to the report, Amir Rahimi’s salary has also been suspended for approximately five months, subjecting his family to severe livelihood hardships.
Rahimi was sentenced to four years in prison in late May of this year by Branch 6 of the Lorestan Provincial Court of Appeal.
In the initial trial stage, Branch 1 of the Khorramabad Revolutionary Court had previously sentenced him to 10 years in prison on charges of “managing a group of more than two people intended to disrupt national security and order.”
