The two-year and seven-month prison sentence imposed on Hadi Jalali, a teacher and cultural educators’ union activist in Kerman Province, has been upheld on appeal without any modifications.
The Coordinating Council of Iranian Cultural Associations’ Trade Unions reported that Branch 7 of the Kerman Province Court of Appeals affirmed the ruling issued against him, meaning he must soon present himself to judicial authorities to begin serving his prison term.
According to an informed source cited by the Coordinating Council’s Telegram channel, the Kerman teacher’s case was registered with Branch 7 of the Court of Appeals on May 31. The judges of this branch upheld the preliminary verdict on June 9, just eight days after the case was referred to them, without convening a defense hearing or granting him an opportunity to provide explanations.
The source also raised concerns over the speed of the review and issuance of the verdict, pointing out that the case file was approximately 500 pages long. The judgment was notified to the case attorneys on the same day the ruling was finalized.
Hadi Jalali, a teacher residing in Kerman, was prosecuted in 2024 on charges of “forming a group to disrupt national security” through “exchanging information with individuals linked to Israel,” as well as engaging in “media and propaganda activities.”
