Germany will provide an additional €50 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine, as well as €10 million to NATO’s CAP fund, ahead of another winter of war.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul announced this at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha in Kyiv, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“Germany is providing an additional €50 million in humanitarian aid,” Wadephul said.
He specified that the funds would go to UN agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) providing emergency assistance to people in combat zones, particularly in frontline areas. This could include repairing homes, providing mobile sanitation facilities or supplying heating equipment.
According to the Minister, this is particularly important now, as Russia continues to attack Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and is doing everything possible to use winter as a weapon once again.
