POLICE crime scene experts outside the Klaarwater Sizakala Centre offices of eThekwini ward 17 councillor Sibusiso Khwela who was gunned down while helping residents on Thursday. The Political Killings Task Team has taken over the case.
Political leaders are demanding stricter security at municipal access points and councillors' offices after Mariannhill ward councillor Sibusiso Khwela was shot, allegedly by a man posing as a resident seeking help at his office.
Khwela, an ANC councillor, was recently gunned down at the Sizakala Centre office in Klaarwater, while assisting residents of his ward. To date, no arrests have been made.
Khwela served two terms as a councillor, and reportedly stated that he was not standing for re-election in the November 4 local government elections.
His murder led the ANC Regional Task Team (RTT) in eThekwini to call on the municipality to tighten security for councillors and at municipal buildings.
