Winger Puso Dithejane's contributions places the spotlight on another young South African making his mark outside the country’s borders.
Puso Dithejane was relieved to finally get off the mark in his second start for Chicago Fire in the MLS this season, revealing how new striker Robert Lewandowski has helped him to be clinical in front of goal.
Fire beat Orlando City 2-1 in the league on Thursday morning, with Dithejane opening the scoring for his side in the fourth minute. David Brekalo equalised in the 52nd minute, but a 69th-minute penalty from Lewandowski ensured that Fire bagged all three points.
Dithejane’s goal was his second in the league in 13 appearances, having scored his first as a substitute against Inter Miami late last month.
Overall, the former TS Galaxy attacker has been in fine form since the restart of the season following the World Cup in North America. His goal against City was his third in three matches, following a brace in the 2-1 win over Club Necaxa in the Leagues Cup group stage earlier this month.
