MANILA, Philippines — While the southwest monsoon is expected to weaken, the state weather bureau on Thursday said that scattered rains and thunderstorms may still prevail over Metro Manila and other areas in Luzon within the next 24 hours.

This is based on the 11 a.m. weather advisory of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“The Southwest Monsoon is now less likely to bring significant rainfall over the western section of Luzon. However, scattered rains and thunderstorms may still be experienced over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Banates, Cagayan, Batangas, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan within the next 24 hours,” Pagasa said.
