MANILA, Philippines — Generally fair weather is expected until Sunday afternoon, when heavy rains are forecast in parts of Luzon due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat”, the state weather bureau said Saturday afternoon.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) weather specialist Daniel Villamil said during the 5 p.m weather advisory that the effects of the southwest monsoon had weakened on Saturday.

By Sunday afternoon, however, the “habagat” is expected to trigger heavy rains in Northern and Central Luzon, as well as parts of the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) regions.
