Some of the items - including drugs and cellphones - seized by police from a prison warden stopped at a roadblock.

A Cape Town prison warden has found himself on the wrong side of the law and is expected to appear in court soon on charges of dealing in drugs.

The 47-year-old Goodwood Prison warden was arrested on Wednesday, August 12.

The provincial police spokesperson, Captain Frederick van Wyk, said the arrest was carried out by members of the SAPS’ Anti-Gang Unit and Department of Correctional Services (DCS) Emergency Support Team during a target-driven roadblock at Goodwood Prison.

The operation was conducted at about 6.40am.
