More parties have added their voices to the ongoing debate around the City's bid for the expansion of the metro police function to include the power to investigate crime.
Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis announced last week that the City lodged an inter-governmental dispute after attempts to engage Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia and his predecessors.
Cachalia has ruled out the expansion of policing powers, citing that it would be inconsistent with the Constitution.
ACDP leader in the Western Cape Ferlon Christians however said every lawful measure that strengthens the fight against criminals deserves serious consideration.
