Two acquaintances of the teenagers accused in the fatal beating of a 37-year-old man in Plovdiv have been detained in connection with another violent incident involving two Nepalese citizens.
The Plovdiv District Prosecutor's Office charged an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy on Tuesday with causing minor bodily injuries to two Nepalese men, aged 33 and 27. Prosecutors said the attack was carried out together and was motivated by hooliganism. The two victims suffered pain and physical injuries.
The incident took place around midnight on July 24-25 near the intersection of Ruski Boulevard and Shesti Septemvri Boulevard in Plovdiv. According to the investigation, the two accused noticed two men who appeared to be foreigners sitting on or leaning against stairs near the sidewalk. They approached them and began striking them with their hands and feet, including blows to the head and body.
Drivers passing through the area alerted emergency services by calling 112. Police officers and medical teams arrived, and the two injured men were taken to a hospital for examination. Pre-trial proceedings were subsequently opened.
The suspects were identified on August 10, after investigators looking into the August 4 killing of 37-year-old Georgi Kuzev in the Mladezhki Hill area uncovered a video on one of their phones showing the attack on the Nepalese men.
