Police have arrested the father of a teenager who required hospitalisation for alcoholic poisoning after attending a traditional festival on Crete, as well as the organiser of the event, authorities said Monday.
A police statement said the two men were arrested Sunday in the southern island’s eastern Lasithi region and faced charges of bodily harm and breaches of laws on minors’ access to alcohol.
Reports said the 15-year-old boy had been with his family at the traditional festival in the Elounda area on Saturday night, and had so much to drink that he needed to be taken to the local hospital in Aghios Nikolaos.
The boy was reported out of danger. A similar incident had been reported in the same area a year ago.
