Another two children have been hospitalised on the southern island of Crete after drinking too much alcohol at a party – in the third incident of the kind in as many days – with police arresting their parents for exposing them to danger, authorities said Wednesday.

Local media said the two girls, aged 13 and 14, had been drinking at a beach party on Monday night at Aghii Apostoli in western Crete, and required treatment for alcoholic poisoning at the hospital in Hania.

A police statement said two Greek men aged 50 and 59 were arrested Tuesday on charges of endangering their children and breaking laws on under-age drinking.

Another four people – two parents and two event organisers – were arrested in separate incidents on Sunday and Monday after two under-age boys had so much to drink at festivals in eastern Crete that they were hospitalised in the town of Aghios Nikolaos.

People under 18 are not allowed to drink alcohol, and there has been a series of arrests all over Greece of people accused of serving drinks to minors in bars or clubs.
