BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Kennon Road remained hazardous on Sunday, Aug. 9, after heavy rain triggered mud, floodwater and rock debris that flowed down the mountainside and accumulated along the roadway in the Viaduct Tunnel areas of Camp 6 and Camp 4 in Tuba, Benguet.

As of 2 p.m., the road was passable in one direction at Millsite in Camp 6 but only for residents of the area, according to a situational update from the Tuba Municipal Police Station.

The mud and rock debris posed hazards to motorists and pedestrians. Continuing heavy rain also forced the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) clearing team to suspend operations temporarily due to unsafe working conditions.
