A body of Nigerian nurses, the Elegant Nurses Forum (ENF) has accused the leadership of the Nursing Department at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun State, of intimidation, victimisation, alleged nepotism and creating what it described as a toxic working environment.
They demanded an independent investigation into the conduct of the hospital's Head of Nursing Services (HNS).
The group also alleged that newly employed nurses at the federal hospital are owed between three and four months' salaries, with several of them yet to receive call duty allowances despite resuming work more than five months ago.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Nurse Thomas Abiodun Olamide, the ENF commended the hospital's management for taking steps to address some of the concerns earlier raised by newly recruited nurses but maintained that serious allegations against the Nursing Department's leadership require urgent attention.
