As of the morning of August 7, due to severe weather in Ukraine, users in 118 settlements across seven regions are without power; electricity consumption continues to rise.
According to Ukrinform, NPC Ukrenergo reported this on Facebook.
“Due to severe weather conditions (thunderstorms, strong winds), as of this morning, 118 settlements in seven regions—Zhytomyr, Zakarpattia, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Chernivtsi, Kirovohrad, and Cherkasy—were either fully or partially without power. Repair crews from regional power companies are already working to restore the damaged overhead power lines," the statement reads.
At the same time, as of 9:30 a.m. on Friday, electricity consumption was 3.2% higher than the previous day. This is due to the continued hot weather throughout Ukraine and rain in parts of the southwestern regions, which is reducing the efficiency of residential solar power plants.
Ukrenergo emphasizes that due to the abnormal heat, there is an urgent need today to save energy between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., particularly in Kyiv and the Kyiv and Odesa regions. The power grid operator asks that energy-intensive activities (such as doing laundry, using the dishwasher, and running the water heater) be postponed until nighttime, when the load on the power grid will decrease.
