MANILA, Philippines — One of the 18 “maleta boys” who claimed to be former bodyguards of ex-Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co said on Friday that they were offered P20 to P25 million to recant their affidavit implicating several government officials, including President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez, in the flood control anomalies.
George Villanon Jr., one of the “maleta boys,” said this in an ambush interview on Friday after four of his colleagues signed affidavits of recantation, divulging in an interview that their statements written in their joint affidavit were “untrue.”
“Meron pong ino-offer sa amin para bumaliktad,” he told reporters.
